Hi, folks -
Welcome to the official, accept-no-substitutes Dynamo 5 website!
What is Dynamo 5?
Just about the coolest comic ever, that’s what!
What, you want more information?
Okay, okay. Dynamo 5 is the new Image Comics series that’s launching in March 2007. The book features five strangers who learn they’re the illegitimate sons and daughters of the recently deceased super-hero, Captain Dynamo. The kids are gathered together by Cap’s widow and trained to take his place as the protectors of Tower City. I’ve heard the book described as a cross between The Incredibles and Runaways, and I think that’s a pretty flattering description.
I write the book. You may have heard of another series of mine, Noble Causes. In fact, here’s a bit of trivia for you. Captain Dynamo first appeared in Noble Causes. I’m joined on Dynamo 5 by Mahmud A. Asrar, Ron Riley, and Charles Pritchett.
Mahmud is a frighteningly talented artist who’s breathed an amazing amount of life into these characters. They feel so much more real because of work. He’s also freakishly fast. The book’s not out until March, and Mahmud’s already halfway done with the third issue! And it’s barely January!
Ron Riley’s a longtime collaborator of mine, having colored Noble Causes for the past year or three. His involvement in D5 was a no-brainer. He and Mahmud are already making a fantastic team.
And Charles Pritchett delivers a one-two punch, both by lettering the book and by helping us with all things web-related. Thanks, Charles!
So okay, I guess I’ve rambled on long enough. I’ll reward you with a little visual treat for stopping by. Here’s your first look at the cover to Dynamo 5 issue #2, by Mahmud and Ron.
